Bike Dock Solutions provides assurance for the London Wildlife Trust's cyclists

Award-winning cycle parking specialist Bike Dock Solutions has completed the installation of two ‘Toastrack’ bike stands at the London Wildlife Trust, based in Union Street, London. The cycle stands have been installed as part of the Transport for London (TfL) cycle superhighway scheme. The two Toastracks will provide parking for up to twelve bicycles.

The London Wildlife Trust is the only charity solely dedicated to protecting the capital’s wildlife and wild spaces, and will now benefit from robust and secure cycle parking from Bike Dock Solutions. The three stand Toastracks will provide parking for twelve cycles and are constructed from galvanised steel. The Toastrack is ideal for multiple bike parking and is supplied in sections, ideally bolted down into concrete.

Kate Symonds, Fundraising and Marketing Officer at the London Wildlife Trust, spoke of the inadequate cycle parking previously at the Union Street Offices, “Before, we only had a cycle corral made out of fencing that wasn’t very secure. Also, the parking area isn’t well-lit and there is no CCTV, so naturally, some of our employees had concerns about the safety of their bicycles.”

Cycle Superhighway seven, which starts in Merton and ends in the City, passes through Union Street and the London Wildlife Trust, gained credits from TfL to support the installation of the Bike Dock Solutions cycle parking.

“People have mentioned how happy they are with the new bike racks, and now, they are almost always full. We’ve been in touch with Bike Dock Solutions recently, and have plans to double the amount of cycle parking spaces. Hopefully, this will encourage more people to cycle to our premises,” Kate added.

“In the UK, a bicycle is stolen every minute and less than 5% of those are returned to their owners,” explains James Nash, Director at Bike Dock Solutions. “Cyclists are more likely to have their bikes stolen than motorcyclists their motorcycle or car owners their car - and cycle theft is the single greatest deterrent to cycling.”
